Media Release - Rolex Sydney Hobart - Tasmania Distillery Sponsorship
Tasmania Distillery Media Release - 21st November 2008
Tasmania Distillery is the producer of Sullivans Cove Single Malt Whisky.
Tasmania Distillery has finalized a sponsorship arrangement with Skandia, the 98 ft, high-tech canting keel, carbon fibre supermaxi yacht for the 2008 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.
The sponsorship arrangement will include the carriage of a 15ltr cask of Sullivans Cove Single Malt Whisky on board the vessel for the duration of the race.
The Sullivans Cove Single Malt Whisky dedicated to the event has been hand selected by head distiller Patrick Maguire.
The 15ltr cask has been constructed by a local cooper especially for the event, which will see it secured by the keel bolts inside the vessel.
On completion of the race, the barrel of Sullivans Cove Single Malt Whisky will be removed from Skandia and returned to Tasmania Distillery where it will be decanted Solero style back into the cask from which it came.
The Sullivans Cove Single Malt Whisky will then be bottled into a limited edition commemorative bottle which will contain whisky that has endured the journey from Sydney to Hobart.
The first activity for this project is to fill the 15ltr cask with the Sullivans Cove Single Malt Whisky that will make the trip from Sydney to Hobart.
The filling of the cask will take place at Tasmania Distillery at 2.00 p.m. on Monday the 24th of November 2008 by head distiller Patrick Maguire, who will also be available for comment regarding the sponsorship.
Representatives of the media are invited to attend Tasmania Distillery to record the filling of the 15tr cask.
Any media who are interested in accessing footage of the event, but who cannot attend, can do so by contacting the writer.
